It's because she adamantly considers herself Nohrian and straight up says she isn't here for Hoshido. As such she refuses to bond with the Hoshidan royals (apparently doing that would make her give herself shotgun lobotomy according to the author?) The writer really really dislikes Hoshido and Birthright and the attitude shows in the author's notes. Is it any surprise I keep calling for its sporking and complaining about it here? The author is also really whiny about how haaaaaaard it is to upload on AO3 as if it's not a non-profit website with limited bandwidth and volunteers trying their best. That and the comments (AO3 only) seem to praise it the same way A Brighter Dark's praises made no sense (Fanfiction seem to have more people calling out Nerr's terrible attitude to the author is really defensive about, again, at least DeathDealer had the maturity to realize his wasn't good)
