Hoo boy. The main reason I am on my own blog now is this mess. This infodump is so backloaded I kept on mistakenly dropping spoilers because every cell of my body wanted me to pace this better!

Okay, Project Kid is a thing for another day, but Guile and Leena immediately notice future technology being used-that is how Chronopolis was hidden until now, beneath a cloaking device.

Previously, it was brought up that for the avatar of a god, Leena is...awfully technological. You wouldn't expect the Pope to be a cyborg, even before her enhancements. Shs also reveals how familiar Lynx is with technology, at which point Sprigg theorizes that Lynx may have been a future Mystic who corrupted Atropos through his hatred of humans.

Leena: It could be, but Mystics were a lot more accepted in my day. I am not saying there wasn't racism, but it's regarded as something to be ashamed of. I can only imagine it got better from that time onwards...it isn't impossible, but still.

From the entrance to Chronopolis, Leena and Guile realize they are in a much more advanced time than either of them remember. Much of the ghost dialogue is cut out or simply confirmations of what was already hinted at, such as El Nido being artificial or FATE being a computer, and that Dragonians are refugees from a timeline wherein Reptites outcompeted humans (and Harle suddenly grows a bit quiet about that, muttering that "it wasn't a friendly contest").

The misanthrope muttering about humans being incomplete gets snarked at by the enitre party too, especially by Razzly, who calls the planet a petty bully that cannot stand the fact that someone else played with its toys, because humans had long developed the cerebral cortex, along with Reptites, if you already read the bit on Reptites.

It's upon discovering that FATE was partially made from Mother Brain that Guile figures out what is going on:

Guile: ...those idiots.

Sprigg: Eh? Something the matter boy?

Guile: I know why Atropos became Lynx. She was always evil.

He then explains that Mother Brain betrayed humanity in Lavos' future and actually looks up to the alien monster as the pinnacle of evolution. He doubts that Chronopolis' Mother Brain was much different-and thus, FATE has always had Mother Brain's narcissism and lack of empathy for all organic life as part of her. In a sense, Lynx and Mother Brain are the same entity, and the reason he wants the Frozen Flame is the reason she destroyed humanity; to ensure that all extant sentient life is made in his own image and loves him as father and god.

Leena: So...basically, he's a smaller version of Lavos. Except worse, because Lavos can't help that he was born a parasite.

Razzly: ...we died purely so because Lynx could be the only kid in the sandbox!?

Tarnruff: No wonder he used the old boss...

There is also a boss fight with Lachesis near the Project Kid door (which is renamed Galatea Chamber), during which it's revealed the Ego of Fate is catatonically insane, driven between Atropos' selfishness and Clotho's kindness, and has been fending off Lynx from attuning to the Flame-she is also the ones in charge of the Records, and has been the one keeping El Nido from changing in any meaningful way. She murmurs about "they must not succeed...not succeed" when finally taken offline.
